FAQ

San Diego updates coming soon

  • Is this intensive for couples with challenges or couples who want to get closer?

Yes! Both! The intensive will strengthen your marriage, but there can be specific individual needs for each couple. Some couples will use their individual sessions with Dr. Konzen to focus on working through high conflict or high disconnection or needing recovery from betrayals or addiction, as well as rebuilding friendship and intimacy.  Other couples have stable marriages and use their individual sessions to explore finding new inspiration in their intimate connection and sexual relationship.

  • What does the registration fee include?

The registration fee is per couple and includes all group sessions, your three individual sessions with Dr. Konzen (pre/during/post), accommodations, and meals on-property. While you are staying with us, you will have options to participate in numerous activities, some of which will have additional fees.

  • Which airport is closest?

The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) is the closest to the retreat. We recommend flying in to here. Alaska Airlines offers several dailly flights into Anchorage, but Delta, United, American, and several other airlines also provide service to Anchorage.

  • What are the current local COVID-19 travel restrictions?

Anchorage has no travel restrictions or guidelines for state entry, CLICK HERE for additional information and resources.

  • How do I get from the Anchorage Airport to the retreat?

    The retreat is located at:

40465 S Parks Hwy, Susitna North, AK 99623

You can plot directions using Google Maps via this location point, HERE.

Shuttles from the Airport to the camp can be provided by staff on Sunday morning and early afternoon. For those wanting to have their own cars available, contact the local car rentals.

  • What is the weather like in Talkeetna, AK?

During May/June the weather you can expect highs in the 50s and 60s (occasionally in the low 70s), and lows in the middle 40s. Additionally, it can sometimes be rainy at this time of year.

  • What should I pack?

With such variance in weather, you might find it beneficial to bring a little bit of everything! Attire for the retreat is casual. We suggest also packing the following items:

    • Rain gear - boots, raincoat
    • Comfortable walking shoes/hiking boots
    • Sandals or flip-flops for the amazing beautiful days
    • Some summer clothes for the sunny days, but also a couple of good warm layers.
    • Anything that helps with mosquitoes - netting/spray.
    • Overall Packing List Suggestions:

Inside layer: Think long underwear or tights. Moisture-wicking fabrics against the skin, such as Capilene (also called polypropylene) or light wool.

Sunny days. Drip-dry style longsleeve shirt and zip-off pants. Moisture wicking products a great idea. They dry fast if you get sweaty, offer sun protection and can work as an outer layer over your poly-pro in light- but-chilly wind.

Insulating layer: Expedition weight long underwear or lightpile. For most summer hikes, you’ll only need a top. Great to put on at the summit or during lunch break.

Outside layer: Rainproof jacket. Breathable yet water proof fabric such as Gore-tex is an idea.
